I was the senior corpsman for L 3/3 during July '69. 'Scotty' showed me the ropes and made me feel welcome. I was home on emergency leave when L 3/3 was overrun. I believe this was one of the last major fire fights the Marines had in northern I Corps. I was so impressed with Scott and the other corpsman of L Co. that I wrote our Chief corpsman while home and told him they should all receive meritorious promotions. RIP Scotty and Semper Fi!

Scott was my best friend growing up together in Chelsea, Michigan. I was with 3/7 India Co. 1st Mar Div in Vietnam about the same time period Scott was there. We talked about meeting in-country but never got together. Scott was killed 9-17-69 about a month after I arrived back in the States. He died saving Marines as a Navy Corpsman. He was the best. Hope to see you again soon my friend. Dennis

Scotty was a corpsman in my platoon
"Doc Scotty" was a true hero! He died trying to save the lives of Marines in Lima 3/3, 3rd MAR DIV when we were overrun in the hills west of The Rockpile. I pray he is at peace now.

Scotty taught me alot of what I was to do as a Marine Corpsman. I learned more after his death. I was wounded two days after he was killed on the ridge.
